Obituary of Ruthven Granger
Ruthven Granger passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 70 years old. Ruthven was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He has resided in Woodbridge since 1990. He proudly served his country in the US Army Reserves. He was a New York Transit Police Officer for 22 years and retired in 1993. He then went back to school and graduated at the top of his class with a degree in telecommunications from DeVry University. He enjoyed playing softball with the NY Transit League. He loved music, played the flute and saxophone, and also played in a band called Heart and Soul.
He was predeceased by his former wife, Barbara Granger, his parents, Herman and Irene Granger, three siblings, Yolanda Hoating, Charles Hoating, and Helen Anthony, and two nieces, Tina and Toni.
He is survived by his two children, Aaron Loftin, and Robin Granger, three grandchildren, Julia Shaw, Nico Shaw, and Nashea Wyatt, one great-granddaughter, Amelia Cruz, two nieces, Kimberly Boyd and Suzanne Hoating, one nephew, Richard Hoating, and many other extended family members.
A memorial gathering will be from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. A Catholic memorial blessing will begin at the conclusion of the gathering hours at 4:00pm at the funeral home.
