Q: What will you miss most about Kathryn?
A: This week I had to say goodbye to my wonderful grandmother Kathryn Obal. She was an amazing person on so many levels. She and my grandfather Walter Obal ran a wonderful garden shop and nursery in Princeton for over fifty years which was like a dream out of a picture book. I have the most amazing memories hanging out with the plants as a little kid, and working part time for my grandparents in high school (although I never quite developed the family gift for horticulture.) Her and my grandfather came from a modest immigrant background and saw so much success driven by their love of what they did. They taught and teach me so many important things.
My grandmother was immensely supportive, loving, and grateful for all the time we got to spend together. She was also independent, no one's pushover, and had a fierce intellect until the very end. I will remember her always as one of the strongest women I've ever known, who loved so deeply. Goodbye grandma, you'll be missed by so many.

I am so very sorry to hear the news of Aunt Kate’s passing…. I can’t tell you how many Fridays I would wake up so excited because we would be seeing the Obal’s that evening. Between the camping trips, backyard BBQ’s, fireworks and card games, I’m full of delightful memories and Aunt Kate will always be in my heart!!!!

So sorry for your passing! You were an important part of our family and childhood. So many memories it’s hard to pick one. Dozens of camping trips, crabbing, getting into mischief, so many laughs. From the Hirsch family to the Obal family, so so sorry for your loss!

Aunt Kate, If I could just talk to you for a minute, I’d tell you how much I love and miss you. Aunt Kate, rest in peace and may you find me worthy of your divine protection from heaven. To my Uncle Walt, Walter, Debbie and Tom. She has passed on in a physical sense but she will always be there for you to love and protect you as part of God’s Divine Plan.

The love of a God Mother, Aunt and friend never goes away. Through the years miles got longer but thoughts, prayers and conversations were like we had never been apart. I will greatly miss Auntie Kate, she will always be in my heart and mind. To my Uncle Walt, Walter, Debbie and Tom I know how hard this time is. Keep her smile in your hearts and memories. I love you all.
