Obituary of Salvatore J. Ascolese, Sr.

Salvatore J. Ascolese, Sr., 89, passed away on Sunday October 16, 2022 at The Gardens at Monroe.  Sal was born in Harrison and raised in Newark.  He lived in Edison for most of his life and settled in Concordia, Monroe Twp. 5 years ago.  Sal proudly served his country in the US Army.  He worked for Remco, Chanel, Revlon and JB Williams as a package designer before owning his own package design business, SJA Associates.  Sal was president of the American Italian Club in Metuchen and served as president of the Colonia chapter of Deborah Hospital Fundraising.  He was an avid sports fan, especially the NY Giants and Mets, loved to read and was a doting grandfather, loving husband and father who loved to tell stories and make everyone laugh.

He is preceded in death by four siblings: Florence, Josephine, Rose and Frank, his granddaughter, Christina Marie and his son in law, Chris Ruhnke.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Frances Ascolese of Monroe Twp., three children: Grace Ascolese of Arlington, VA, Sal Ascolese, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Edison and Tina Marie Ascolese-Ruhnke of South Plainfield, two grandchildren: Sam and Angela.  Also surviving are many extended family and friends.

 A memorial mass will be 11:00 am on Saturday October 22, 2022 at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church - 185 Applegarth Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ  08831.  Full arrangements were entrusted to the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. - 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ  08831 - 732-521-0555.
