Obituary of Elizabeth A. Shutz

Elizabeth A. “BettyAnn” Shutz passed away on March 1st, 2022, at her home in Monroe Township.

BettyAnn was born in Jersey City to Joseph and Agnes Feeney. She then lived in Harrison, and then finally Carteret where she spent most of her early years. She attended school in Carteret graduating from Carteret High School in the class of 1967. She then attended college at Middlesex County College graduating with a degree in Secretarial Science in 1969. BettyAnn met and married her husband of fifty-one years Barry Shutz in high school. They settled in Milltown and raised their family. They eventually moved into Monroe Township in 2007.

After college, she worked for several years at W.R. Grace Co., and then in the East Brunswick School system until finally working as a purchasing agent for Merck & Co. Inc. until retiring in 2004.

BettyAnn loved to draw and sketch, play word games and read as many as a book a day.

BettyAnn also loved to travel, her favorite places were Bermuda and Aruba, especially with her “Special Super 8 girl trips”. She also dedicated much of her time to Ministries at Nativity of Our Lord Church. BettyAnn was a Lector, and a member of the parish council, she was also involved in the respect life ministry as well as visiting the Homebound often with soup.

BettyAnn is survived by her loving husband Barry Shutz of Monroe Township, her Sons: Joshua & his fiancée Colleen Fues of Plainsboro, and Ryan & Damaris Shutz of North Brunswick. She is also survived by her sisters, Barbara Murphy of Texas, and Patricia Feeney of Monroe Township. She will also be sadly missed by five grandchildren: Joshua, Jordan, Justin, Isabelle, and Liam and many nieces and nephews

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home located at 205 Rhode Hall Road, Monroe Township, NJ 08831 (732) 521-0555.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 10:00 am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church located at 185 Applegarth Road in Monroe Township followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery - 340 Ridge Rd., North Arlington, NJ  07031.

For the safety of all it is suggested that face masks be worn by all visitors attending services
