Mr. Shakoor was one of the nicest parents out there! I will always remember him as great, caring and humorous Dad. So sorry Jeff - Miss those SHP days in the late 1980s with you, your Dad and "Juice".

I worked for Charlie in the Old Bridge Store.
Over the years, so many times, he complimented my work ethic and how I built up and ran the Seafood Dept.. it was such a pleasure to work for him. As a thank you, he sent me on a vacation to Myrtle Beach and paid for the hotel for the week, had Christmas parties where he was so generous with the gifts for us all, had an employees group where we went to NY in a limo for dinner and a play.. He was an amazing boss who really cared about us all and our families..
I remember one time when he was in a cranky mood about something, and he was yelling at me on the phone- I told him I was going to hang up because I would not take being yelled at like that. I hung up. His first wife Suzanne happened to be walking down the aisle by Seafood later that day and I told her how upset I was etc and she was telling me that it wasn’t right that he had treated me like that. I guess she went home that night and brought the hammer down, telling him he wouldn’t like it if is own daughter was being treated like that.
The next day, Charlie came walking up to the Seafood Dept.. He had a big smile on his face. and said, “ Cassidy, you ratted me out to my wife!!” Then he hugged me and and apologized.
He was a great man, a great and generous boss and a loving father and grandfather.
I thought about him often after retiring from Shop Rite. He was one of the good ones.

Sorry to hear of the loss of Chas as I knew him for many years both as a business leader and a friend. I will always remember Chas and had many police dealings with him over the years. If I had to describe Charlie to a stranger I would say he was one of the most generous to the community, supporting many sports venues and baseball teams in the Old Bridge Community. Often responding to Old Bridge Shop Rite I remember Chas with a big heart and caring, even after apprehending shoplifters and recovering stolen food items, he would simply tell the subject dont come in the store again but also ended up giving the subject the food item with a smile. Will also remember of many times he said to me I like your name, my sons name is Jeffrey. R.I.P. my friend. Retired Captain Jeffrey W. Robbins, Old Bridge PD

Through the many years I have known Charlie, both at Pathmark and Shoprite,he always was bigger than life with his humor.
Always fun to be around. He was also an excellent manager because he was so good around people.
At Pathmark Charlie successfully managed some of the most difficult stores in New York.
He will be missed.

We were so sorry to hear of Charlie's passing. He was such a presence in the Old
Bridge ShopRite and left his smile on everyone who shopped there. We remember him handing out balloons to children and never hesitating to pick up a broom himself if he saw a need. Suich a nice man... he will be missed so much.

Charlie was my favorite boss at the first Wakefern owned store in Staten Island. I worked for Charlie while I went to college. He always had a smile on his face and treated all his employees with kindness and respect. Years alter, I moved to Old Bridge and was thrilled to see Charlie again with his own store. He was very generous and often donated items for my students at St. Ambrose School. Charlie - rest in peace - I will miss you!

Our condolences to Julie, Jeff, Scott, Aimee, Julia & Ava. Charlie was such a great man in so many ways and touched so many people. He was larger than life and we were always happy to spend time with him. Whenever we went for Syrian Food, he always insisted on paying! His generosity to my father and our family will remain in our hearts forever. He loved to ask us "Which one are you?"
