Obituary of Emma Kate Brunskill

Emma Kate Brunskill died on Wednesday April 27, 2011 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. She was 17 years old. Emma was a life-long resident of Cranbury and was currently a senior at Princeton High School. She was planning on attending Rutgers University in the Fall of 2011 to study Companion Animal Science. Emma was an excellent student, she was active in school programs such as the Women's Choir and Princeton High School Choir, Peer Group, Lacrosse, Freshman Varsity Cheerleading, and she played the flute. She had a strong love for dogs and was a six year member of the Middlesex County 4H Puppy Pals Club. She also raised and trained Seeing Eye dogs and received several awards for her dedication in training. She was awarded the 4H County Award, the Seeing Eye puppy club best friend award in 2008/2009, the 4H Clover Award for leadership and outstanding achievements in 2009, and the 4H Public Presentations outstanding presenter award in 2010. She served as secretary for one year and elected president for the last two years. She was currently in process of raising her 4th Seeing Eye Guide dog, Nana. All three previous dogs, Joan, Kismet, and Bella have all been placed with blind people all over the country. She was an active parishioner at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, Monroe Twp. and was a lector and assistant catechist for summer bible school. She is survived by her parents, Michael Brunskill and Colleen Cahill of Cranbury, her maternal grandfather, Ronald G. Cahill of Landenberg, PA, her paternal grandmother, Jacqueline Brunskill of Rolling Hills Estates, CA, one brother, Lucas Brunskill of Cranbury, one sister, Rebecca Brunskill of Cranbury, two aunts, Cindy Moore of Chambersburg, PA, and Laurie Ellis of Thurmont, MD, four uncles, Scott Cahill of Wilton Manors, FL, John Brunskill of Mariposa, CA, Michael Cahill of Gaithersburg, MD, and Bradley Brunskill of Rolling Hills Estates, CA, and many loving cousins. A Funeral Liturgy will be 11:00am on Monday May 2, 2011 at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church 185 Applegarth Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831. Relatives and friends may call from 5pm to 7pm on Sunday at the Church and Monday from 9:30am to 10:45am prior to Mass. A private cremation will take place following Mass under the direction of the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Monroe Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Seeing Eye PO Box 375 Morristown, NJ 07963-0375 or to the Middlesex County 4H Youth Development Office 42 Riva Ave, Davidson Mill Pond Rd.
