I am so very sorry for your loss. Words cannot even begin to express my sadness for you as I know how much you loved and cherished your daughter.
Emma,
I wish I had had the privilege to have gotten to know you. Your grandmother (my Godmother, Tante Jackie) always spoke so lovingly of you. I wish I could have told you that it gets better...because it does. Rest in peace, sweet Emma.

You don't know me, and I never knew your daughter. But I went to PHS- I graduated in 2006. I aim to go to Rutgers. And I - I don't mean to presume what happened but if the papers are right - then I also share in common that I was depressed in high school. I could be wrong - Emma seems to have been a remarkable young woman who gave selflessly to others. Someone who despite being younger than me is someone I can look up to. I'm so sorry for your loss. I can barely imagine some of the pain you're feeling, but on the off chance that I can understand some of what she was feeling, I thought maybe I should make myself available to you. My email is CatyMcCormackMoon@yahoo.com and if you want to talk about depression, or suicide to someone who's not a psychologist or therapist, but just to someone who's been there, to sort of gain an understanding, I'm here. I don't want to intrude upon your grief. I just feel compelled to offer. Again I'm so sorry for your loss.

There are two times when we are privileged to draw close to the veil
that separates us from our Creator. One is at the moment when we
receive our children from the womb and the other is when we return
those we love to the hand of God. Emma's journey on this
planet was begun and ended in the hand of God. She is at peace.
May we find God's grace and mercy for our journeys until we return to

I was not friends with Emma, nor did I really know who she was. But there was something deep beyond the surface of her that needed to be freed. Nobody will ever know what that was but her, and we must live forever knowing that she is always here with us, and that everybody loves her, no matter if we know her or not. I am truly sorry for what happened to this bright young girl. Mr. And mrs. Brunskill you must not take fault for what happened. She loved you and she will never be gone. Her spirit remains with us forever, and i know that everything happens for a reason. Next time it rains, next time a flower blooms, next time a puppy is born, think about Emma, because all those things, all that new life, that is emma brunskill.

We sat close in class and you would always kindly share your food with me. We didn't need many words to feel close, and I feel as if I have always connected with you.

I can't even begin to express how I feel about your family's loss. Emma was such a wonderful, determined and caring person , who not only was a leader but showed others the importance of giving back. Her dedication to raising seeing eye puppies was so admirable, and her ability to be a positive role model for the younger kids in her 4-H club is something that you don't see in every young person. She will so be missed but her impact on the seeing eye and 4-H program will live on.

Emma;
I loved you so much, and there were so many reasons to love a great girl like you. Your smile would make us smile, your laugh would make us laugh and when you were sad, we felt sad. You were stick thin, beautiful and inspiring. I loved how you would become upset because you got up to 107 pounds, which as I would tell you is the weight of a twelve year old. And how you'd make the weirdest things ever! Like peach and sour-cream dip, and you'd eat corn dog's in the middle of the night like it's no big deal. I've always admired you, when you were at your best or worst. I wish I could've seen you grow old, and I wish you could've found a way to overcome this, and maybe years and years hence, you and I could joke about it, and you'd be like, "Jeez! What was I thinking?" I love you Emma Kate Brunskill. Stay fresh up there.

I never had the pleasure of meeting your daughter. In reading about her life, a piece which was beautifully written, I know that she was a kindred spirit with her love of animals. Her dedication in her life's work was such an important pursuit. Being your daughter, I know she was extraordinary.
