Obituary of Catherine McGowan

Catherine (Boland) McGowan passed away on November 16, 2017 at her home in Rossmoor, Monroe Twp. She was 84 years old. Mrs. McGowan was born and raised in Lisselton, County Kerry, Ireland. She came to the US in 1952 and settled in New York City. She later lived in Freehold for many years before moving to Monroe Township in 1991. She was a bank teller for Harmonia Bank in Freehold while raising her family as a homemaker. She was a coordinator and member of the Rossmoor Prayer Shawl Group and enjoyed knitting, sewing, quilting, gardening, and bicycling. She was preceded in death by her husband, Terence P., Sr. in 2014, her daughter, Kathleen Ross in 1990, four brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by her son Terence McGowan, Jr. of Neptune, two daughters Mary Baker and her husband Anthony of Manalapan, and Eileen Smith and her husband Bob of Philadelphia, one brother, Dermot Boland and his wife Sheila, seven grandchildren, Moira, Colleen, Kevin, Juliette, Veronica, Virginia, and Erin, and many other extended family members and friends. Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday November 19, 2017 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home - 205 Rhode Hall Road, Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 - 732-521-0555. Funeral services will begin at 8:45am Monday November 20, 2017 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be 9:30am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church - Monroe Twp., followed by Interment in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery - Freehold.
