New Jersey State Police Sergeant Delbert J. Hoffman (Ret.) passed away on Wednesday May 17, 2017 at RWJ University Hospital in Hamilton, NJ. He was 65 years old. Delbert was born in Red Bank and lived in North Edison and Monroe Township before moving to Morganville 12 years ago. He was a graduate of Jamesburg High School, Class of 1970. Delbert proudly served on the New Jersey State Police for 20 years, stationed in Hightstown, Bordentown, and Sayreville. He then worked in the Evidence Management Division of the New Jersey State Police in West Trenton, NJ. Delbert was a member of the State Troopers Fraternal Association. He was an outdoorsman who loved nature. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Among Delbert's favorite hobbies was spending days in the sun, fishing with his wife and daughter on their boat; the Play'n Hooky. Delbert also loved hunting with friends and family in Saskatchewan, Canada and he was a collector of vintage cars, specifically, the 1956 Chevy Impala.
Delbert is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Lisa Woodruff-Hoffman, his daughter, Tara Pomparelli, both of Morganville, and two sisters: Sharon Ketschek and her husband Lawrence, of Spotswood and Eileen Barbieri of Boydton, VA as well as many adoring friends.
Visitation will be held from 2-6pm on Sunday May 21, 2017 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. – 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 – 732-521-0555. Funeral services will begin at 9:15am on Monday May 22, 2017 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be held at 10am at St. James Roman Catholic Church – 36 Lincoln Ave., Jamesburg, NJ 08831 followed by a committal service at Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum - South Brunswick.
