Elizabeth A. 'Betty' (Steck) Zwingraf passed away on Tuesday November 1, 2016 at her home in The Regency, Monroe Twp. She was 72 years old. Mrs. Zwingraf was born and raised in Howard Beach, Queens. She lived in Staten Island and Piscataway before moving to The Regency, Monroe Twp. in 2014. She graduated from NYU and furthered her education at NYU receiving a Master's Degree in Education, Health, Nursing, and Art. She was an associate professor of physical education for The College of Staten Island for 24 years before her retirement in 1994. Betty was a highly regarded softball pitching coach that influenced some outstanding college players. She also competed as a player in highly competitive women's fast-pitch softball on the east coast from Florida to Canada. She was an avid skier and she and her husband, Ray, travelled widely. She was inducted into the ASA NJ Hall of Fame in 2002 and the College of Staten Island Hall of Fame in 2012, where she was a highly respected professor and coach.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Raymond Zwingraf of The Regency, Monroe Twp., four cousins, several in-laws, and many other extended family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Thursday November 3, 2016 and Friday November 4, 2016 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. – 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 – 732-521-0555 – www.demarcofuneralhome.com. Funeral services will begin at 10:15am on Saturday November 5, 2016 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be 11:00am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, 185 Applegarth Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, followed by Entombment in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
