I'm very grateful to have known Thomas. With his indomitable spirit and positive mental attitude, he had an amazing ability to overcome setbacks, and was a great model of kindness and patience. (This became particularly clear when I tore down and rebuilt the house next to his in Brooklyn, just two feet from his bed!) More importantly, his wry wit and sense of humor were infectious, and he was a pleasure to be around. The world is certainly a better place for having had him in it.
