Obituary of Jack Porzio

Jack Porzio was born in Brooklyn and resided in Howard Beach (Queens) before moving to Monroe Twp. in 2008. He received his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and his Master's degree in Mathematics Education from Queens College. He was employed by Freeport High School as a Mathematics teacher for 33 years, retiring in 2003. Jack loved running, tennis and mountain biking. He ran the NYC Marathon eight times on behalf of Fred Lebow's team for Memorial Sloan Kettering. He served as a Lector at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church where he was an active parishioner.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Dee (Cipolla) Porzio of Monroe Twp., his son Philip and his wife Emma of Middle Village, Queens, his daughter Rose Soulos and her husband George of West Islip, NY, his sister Mary Pocorobba and her husband Anthony of Ozone Park, NY and four grandchildren: Nicholas, Jack, Joseph and Vincenza.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9pm on Wednesday May 6, 2015 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home – 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 – 732-521-0555. Funeral services will begin at 8:45am on Thursday May 7, 2015 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 9:30am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church – Monroe Twp. followed by interment in St. Charles Cemetery – Farmingdale, NY.
