Obituary of Karen Rose Valiant

Karen Rose Valiant Formerly of Carteret Karen Rose Valiant, formerly of Carteret, died Tuesday, April 15th 2014 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Karen was born in Perth Amboy and resided in Carteret most of her life. She is predeceased by her husband Michael J. Valiant Sr. in 1996, her parents Anton & Rose Bubenheimer and her sister Ruth Kettyle last month. Karen cherished her life with her husband and her family. Her spirit was focused on raising her children with her husband. Good times were always hosted and celebrated with Karen and Mike. Reasons weren't always necessary. She never shied away from the hard work with her family. Strength and Discipline complimented her supportive and nurturing spirit. Upon her husband's death, Karen with her children founded the Michael J Valiant Sr. foundation to support the needs of those who had difficulty supporting themselves. Karen has served as the President of the foundation from 1997 to last year when a stroke set her back. Karen spent the last year of her life rehabilitating and was doing great. Now she is at peace with her husband, sister, and parents. Karen is survived by two sons, Genare Valiant and his wife Dara of Jamesburg; Michael Valiant Jr., and his wife Rita of Lanoka Harbor; a daughter, Catherine Aveta and her husband Chris of Middletown and eight grandchildren, Michael I., Matthew, Massimo, Katie Rose, Genare Jr., Rosie, Christopher and baby Tino! Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 19, 2014 at 10:15am from the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home – 205 Rhode Hall Road – Monroe Twp., NJ. Interment will follow in St. Gertrude's Cemetery Colonia, NJ. Visiting hours will be Friday April 18, 2014 from 3-8pm and Saturday April 19, 2014 from 9:15 – 10:15am at the funeral home.
