Helen Theresa Roan, age 87 of Monroe Township, New Jersey passed into Eternal Life surrounded by her family on February, 21, 2014. She was born in Warrior Run, Pennsylvania on February, 5, 1927, the daughter of Edward and Helen Kane. She was raised in Hanover Township, Pennsylvania and Graduated from Hanover High School and then the Wilkes Barre General Hospital School of Nursing where she became a Registered Nurse. She later resided in Plainfield, NJ, Warren, NJ and Upper Black Eddy, PA. Helen was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Thomas J. Roan in 2003 and her daughter Patricia Mary Roan in 1952. She is survived by her daughters Dr. Nora Roan (Coss) and her husband George of Monroe Township, NJ; Mary Roan Grawehr RN, and her husband Brian of Succasunna, NJ; Ellen Roan Franolich and her husband Michael of Moorestown, NJ; and her sons Thomas and his wife Karen of Jupiter, FL; Edward of Flemington, NJ; James and his wife Deborah of Bridgewater, NJ; Timothy and his wife Cecelia of Woodbury, NJ; Gerard of Highland Park, NJ. Helen has 19 Grandchildren and 11 Great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Road, Monroe Township, NJ on Sunday, February 23, 2014 from 2 to 4 PM and from 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 10:15 AM at Saint Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Old Bridge NJ. Interment will follow later that afternoon at Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery in Hanover Township, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers Helen had requested donations be made to the Pontifical Mission Society; Monsignor Richard A. Behl, Director, PO Box 191, Metuchen, NJ 08840 or to the Wounded Warriors Project; National Processing Center PO Box 75816, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
