Mary A. Concannon – Spotswood, NJ
Mary A. Concannon, 78, died on Tuesday February 11, 2014 at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Mary was born in Brooklyn, NY; she resided in Brooklyn, NY, Monroe Twp., NJ, New Smyrna Beach, FL. and then Spotswood, NJ.
Mary served on the Monroe Township Board of Education for seven years and was employed as an LPN at the South Amboy Hospital for six years and the Ocean View Nursing Home in Florida for 12 years. Mary was an active den mother in the Boy Scouts and an active leader of the Girl Scouts. She also served as the district leader for the Monroe / Jamesburg Scouts.
Mary was proud to serve as an officer in the Woodland – Mill Lake School PTA and the Monroe Twp. School Association for several years. She taught CCD at Immaculate Conception and at the Sacred Heart Parish in Florida. Mary also served as a coordinator and facilitator for Bereavement Ministry at Sacred Heart and a lector for weekday mass. She also volunteered her time at adult day care three times a week in Spotswood.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband Thomas M. Concannon (1978).
Mary is survived by her four children who are forever grateful for their Mother's love, attention, guidance and uncountable sacrifices she made on their behalf, Ann F. Rooney and her husband Tom, Timothy F. Concannon and his wife Lori, Kevin F. Concannon and his wife Kristine Mary F. Powell and her husband Bill, two brothers: John T. Joyce and his wife Frances, Rev. James F. Joyce S.J., eleven grandchildren: Thomas, Ellen, Casey, Erin, Emily, Charles, James, Patrick, Danny, Brian, and Elsa. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday February 15, 2014 from 9-11am at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home – 205 Rhode Hall Rd – Monroe Twp., NJ. Funeral services will begin on Saturday at 11am from the funeral home. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park – South Brunswick.
