Obituary of Maryellen F. Dower

Maryellen F. Dower, 54, died on Saturday December 7, 2013 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Maryellen was born in New Brunswick and resided in Old Bridge before making Monroe Twp. her home 30 years ago. Maryellen received her Nursing Degree from St. Francis Medical Center School of Nursing. She later received her Bachelors of Science Degree in nursing from Kean University. Maryellen also earned certifications in COHN, and CM. For the past ten years, Maryellen was employed by Bristol - Myers Squibb, New Brunswick, as a Sr. Occupational Health Nurse. She was also the past secretary and president elect of the NJ State Association of Occupational Health Nurses. Maryellen was a parishioner of Nativity of Our Lord RC Church. She enjoyed cross country and downhill skiing and led a very active life. Maryellen enjoyed many activities in the Adirondacks with her family, but above all else she was a devoted, caring and loving mother and wife. Maryellen is preceded in death by her mother Margaret (Smith) Fitzgerald (2001). Maryellen is survived by her father Michael Fitzgerald of Old Bridge, her loving husband of 31 years, Harold Dower of Monroe Twp., two sons: Brian Dower of Boulder, CO, Kevin Dower and his wife Jenna of Monroe Twp., a daughter, Cathleen Dower of Monroe Twp., two brothers: Patrick Fitzgerald of Queens, NY, Michael Fitzgerald and his wife Amie of Bayville, NJ and their children, Garrett and Ryan, two sisters: Kathleen Fitzgerald and her husband Bob Josephson of Potsdam, NY, and their children Paul and Jesse, Jane Donovan and her husband John of Island Park, NY and their children: : Liam, Kiera and Molly. Also surviving are many extended family members and friends. Funeral services will begin at 8:45am on Tuesday December 10th from the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 9:30am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, Monroe, followed by Interment in Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan. Visitation will be Monday December 9th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the funeral home.
