Sebastian Ben Fortunato died on Saturday August 24, 2013. He was 83 years old. Mr. Fortunato was born and raised in Montclair and lived in that area until moving to Point Pleasant in 1986 and finally to Millstone Twp. in 2011. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the 3rd Infantry Presidential Honor Guard 'The Old Guard' in Washington D.C. He had a lifelong career in real estate development and was concurrently employed by Schering Plough in Union. He worked for Schering Plough for 29 years and retired in 1981 as the vice president of purchasing. He enjoyed golf, boating, hunting, and fishing. He was a former member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel RC Church in Montclair and was a current parishioner of St. Joseph's RC Church in Millstone Twp.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, Angelo and Maria (Testa) Fortunato and two brothers, Joseph and Thomas Fortunato.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rosalie M. (Ridolfo) Fortunato of Millstone Twp., five children, Dr. Linda F. Sieglen and her husband Jeffrey of Princeton, BettyAnn DeVoti and her husband William of Point Pleasant, Mark A. Fortunato and his wife Constance of Annandale, Sebastian Ben Fortunato, Jr. and his wife Dawn Malone of Tewksbury, and Joseph T. Fortunato and his wife Dr. Janice Miller of Belle Mead, one sister, Mary Conti and her husband John of Montclair, one sister-in-law, Julie Fortunato of Old Tappan, eleven grandchildren, Jeffrey, Michael and his wife Sachiko Yabuki, Andrew and his wife Paloma, Gregory, Steven, Jenna, Caitlin, Matthew, Benjamin, Jeremy, and Sara, two great grandchildren, Jack and Allison, and many other extended family members.
Funeral services will begin at 9:00am on Thursday August 29, 2013 from the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Township, NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. A funeral liturgy will be 10:00am at St. Joseph's RC Church, Millstone Twp. followed by Interment in the parish cemetery in Millstone Twp. Visitation will be 2-4pm and 6:30-8:30pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
