After attending both the viewing and the funeral I was truly amazed at the powerful Legacy this Man left behind. It is so sad that most people do not realize how much their lives affect other people... and then they are gone. This Man was truly a beloved Father, Husband, Grand Father, Brother and friend to all he knew. A Father is an important Man in a child's life and all those in the Fortunato Family were truly blessed to have such a role model to worship. I wish all children to have the love and commitment of such a dedicated and loving Dad. I will pray for memories to comfort and love to heal. I have only one regret ....I never was fortunate enough to have met Sebastian Ben Fortunato.

Dear Fortunato family,
Although I never met Ben I have had the pleasure of getting to know his son Mark who I met last year at our parish "Cornerstone" men's retreat.
It is now clear to me where Mark attained many of his fine qualities!
From what I've been reading Ben was not only a great husband and father but also a good friend to many countless others.
He sounds like he was strong in his religious beliefs, patriotic duties and family obligations.
An all around outstanding individual who I'm sure will be missed terribly by all that knew him!

Please remember in this time of great loss that he has gone home to be with our creator and his memory will live on in those that were priveledged enough to have known him, his ways, his ethics , integrity and values.
Be sure to pass his special ways along to the many grandchildren and great grandchildren that the family has so that his legacy can indeed live on!
My very deepest condolencess,

Dear Joe and family,

I remember your Dad as a very kind man. I might have heard him say 10 words in the 100,000 hours I spent at your house when I was a kid. He made me nervous because he was huge compared to my short family. He made me feel welcome always because he was sweet as pie. And boy was he handsome! I'm so sorry for your loss. He will be missed. Much love to you Joe, and Betty, Ben, Mark, Linda & Mrs Fortunato.

Dad spent his final day surrounded by his loving wife and children. He loved his life, his friends, his homes, and most of all, his family. He was a great father, who gave all he had and shared all he knew with us. He leaves a legacy of integrity, dignity and compassion that we will honor and propagate for all of our lives. He joins his beloved parents and brothers, and precious friends who await his arrival in Heaven. God Bless You Daddy. I love you forever.

The picture of my father that is provided was taken at my sister Betty and her husband Bill's wedding. He was standing next to my mother, his wife, Rosalie. This explains the smile on his face. She was his rock and his soul throughout their years together. This is the best picture of my father's smile ever taken.

Our dad truly lived the American Dream. Everything he did, all the success he achieved, was for his family. Nothing pleased or motivated him more. A self-made man, he raised and educated 5 children with our mom and watched us flourish, giving them 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Dad always treated others as he wanted to be treated and respected those who worked hard to get ahead. During his 29 years at Schering corp. he found jobs for scores of people in need of work….always helping others throughout his career, and theirs.

From Art Scureman:
A gentle, loving and caring soul has departed only to be met by his father and mother. Focus on his meeting when Angelo embraces your Dad and says "Welcome home son, you have lived a good life and you have done well. Your mother and I are so proud of you and happy to have you home".
He is now at rest and reunited with those who have gone before him.
He lived a great life, touched and helped many, and now he is basking in the glory of God.
Ben loved life, loved his family and now is the time to celebrate a LIFE WELL LIVED.
I only hope and pray that I can live and be loved as well as your Dad.
