Edward D. Callahan – Westerly, Rhode Island
Edward D. Callahan, 71, died on Friday March 1, 2013 at the Westerly Hospital – Westerly, RI. Edward was born in Queens, NY. He resided there for all of his life before moving to Rhode Island thirteen years ago.
Edward was employed by Fed Ex at JFK Airport, where he worked as a cargo handler for thirty five years, retiring in 2000. Edward was an extremely popular member and was frequently asked to speak at the AA meetings he attended. He most recently received his thirty year pin. He was also an avid reader, traveller and loved his house on the river in Rhode Island.
Edward is survived by his partner, James J. Murphy of Rhode Island, a daughter Laura Micheals and her husband Eric of Monroe Twp., three brothers: Donald of Long Island, NY, Daniel of Providence, RI and Joseph and his wife Maria of Queens, NY. Also surviving are his two grandchildren: Abigail and Ryan also of Monroe Twp. Edward is preceded in death by his brother William (1994).
Visitation will be Tuesday March 5th from 7-9pm and Wednesday March 6th from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home – 205 Rhode Hall Rd – Monroe Twp., NJ. A funeral service will be held on Thursday March 7th at the funeral home at 11:00am with committal services to follow at the Holy Cross Crematory Chapel.
