Obituary of Douglas Cerbie

Douglas Cerbie passed away on Tuesday November 6, 2012 after a long illness. He was 73 years old. Mr. Cerbie was born and raised in Jersey City. He has resided in Monroe Twp. since 1969. He served in the US Navy and was a pipe insulator for the Asbestos Workers Union Local 32 in Highland Park for 30 years before his retirement in 1993. He was active in the Monroe Twp. recreation programs including being a founding member of the soccer league and coaching baseball for many years. He was an avid New York Yankee Fan.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Maryann (Rovello) Cerbie of Monroe Twp., his son, Douglas Cerbie and his wife Wendy of Monroe Twp., his daughter, Diane Perna and her husband Jason of Monroe Twp., one sister, Patricia Castrucci and her husband Albert of West Paterson, four grandchildren, Jonathan, Olivia, Dominic, and Vincent, and many other extended family members.
Funeral services will begin at 9:45am Saturday November 10, 2012 from the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. A funeral liturgy will be 10:15am at Immaculate Conception RC Church, Spotswood, followed by Interment in Holy Cross Burial Park, S. Brunswick. Visitation will be Friday from 3-7pm at the funeral home.
