Obituary of Joseph G. Alfano

Joseph G. Alfano, 81, passed away on Saturday November 4, 2023 at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Joseph was born in the Bronx, NY; he resided in Queens, NY and Jamesburg, NJ, before moving to Monroe Township.

Joseph was very athletic and enjoyed playing basketball and baseball; he even tried out for the New York Mets.  Joseph was self-employed in the film industry; he enjoyed playing cards, taking trips to the casino, and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. Joseph enjoyed more than anything, watching his children and grandchildren play sports, he was their biggest fan.  Joseph loved and adored his children and grandchildren and was affectionately known as Poppy.

Joseph is preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Alfano, (1989), his brother Ralph Alfano, (2009), and his sister, Marianne Guippone (2000).

Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette Alfano of Monroe Township, NJ, his son, Joseph G. Alfano, III, of Plainsboro, NJ, his daughter, Elena Cicchetti and her husband, Nick of Stirling, NJ, his stepson, Peter Kowalewski and his wife, Stephanie of Lawrenceville, NJ, his stepdaughter, Dana Pavlu and her husband, Kurt of Darien, IL, his seven grandchildren Genna, Sophia, and Nicole Cicchetti, Kameron and Cole Pavlu and Hayden and Peter Kowalewski.  Also surviving are his many extended family members and friends.   

Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 9:00pm on Wednesday November 8, 2023 and from 8:30am to 9:15am on Thursday November 9, 2023  at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. Funeral Services will begin at 9:15am on Thursday from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, 185 Applegarth Road, Monroe Township, NJ. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park & Mausoleum, South Brunswick, NJ.
