Obituary of Jesse Kwok Keung Wong

Jesse Kwok Keung Wong, 75, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, after a year long battle with cancer.  He was born in China, raised in Hong Kong, and immigrated to the United States in 1972 to attend college.  Jesse graduated from Rutgers University in 1976 and went on to earn his Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1984, at which time he was awarded the H. Martin Friedman Award for best doctoral dissertation in Chemistry. He was employed by Schering-Plough (now Merck) in Kenilworth for over 30 years, receiving the Special President's Award for his contributions to the discovery of Claritin.  Jesse enjoyed DIY home improvement projects, woodworking, maintaining cars, eating good food, traveling the world, visiting casinos, and being the “Fixer of Everything”.  

Jesse was preceded in death by his sister, Angela Wong (1978).

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Anna (Chin) Wong of Monroe Township; his son, Tim Wong and his wife Shannon of Raleigh, NC; his daughter, Cinde Macaluso and her husband Kurt of Madison, CT; his three brothers, Bill Wong and his wife Susan of Monmouth Junction, Paul Wong and his wife Alma of Monroe Township, and Michael Wong and his wife Shao Li of Austin, TX; his sister, Onnar Tse and her husband Steve of Queens, NY; two grandchildren: Connor and Casey Wong. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and beloved friends.  

Visitation will be from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc., located at 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ  08831. Cremation is private.
