Obituary of Gina Barbera

Gina Barbera, 84, passed away on Sunday October 15, 2023.  Gina was born in Bari, Italy, moved to the United States in the 1960’s and resided in Brooklyn, NY and Staten Island, NY before moving to Monroe Township, NJ.  Gina was an owner and operator of a lampshade business.  Gina enjoyed cooking, sewing, baking, dancing, music, cruising, and visiting Italy.  She especially loved spending time with her beloved grandchildren.    

Gina is preceded in death by her loving husband, Salvatore Barbera, her brother, Vito Desiante, and her sister, Angela Lobifaro. 

Gina is survived by her son Peter Barbera and his wife Gina, her sisters, Maria Fontana and her husband Salvatore and Joann Cona, and her grandsons, Nicholas and Stephen Barbera.      

Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm on Thursday, October 19, 2023 and from 8:30am to 9:15am on Friday October 20, 2023 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555.  Funeral Services will begin at 9:15am on Friday October 20, 2023 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be 10:00am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, 185 Applegarth Road, Monroe Township, NJ. Entombment will follow in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, US Highway 1 North, Woodbridge, NJ 08830.
