Richard L. 'Skip' Bailey, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at his home in Monroe Twp.  He was 90 years old. Mr. Bailey was born and raised in Sayreville and has resided in Monroe Twp. since 1970.  He proudly served in the US Navy on the USS Corry during the Korean Conflict.  He was an electrician and worked for Quigley Company, Inc. in Old Bridge, Carter Wallace in Cranbury, and later in his career for Wagner Electrical Supply in Sayreville.  He owned and operated Sayreville News Service, Skip's Highlander Tavern in South Amboy, Thompson Park Nurseries in Monroe Twp., and Bailey's Apairy, LLC in Monroe Twp.  Richard was a long-time member of the Parlin Buck Club.  He was also an avid saltwater fisherman and photographer/videographer.  One of his specialty hobbies was raising walker hounds for fox hunting as well as raising freshwater koi fish.  He enjoyed world travel along with his wife, Doris and visited over 30 US States.  Together, they also travelled internationally to over 20 different countries including Canada, Russia, Switzerland, and Israel, to the desert of Jordan to visit Petra, and also to Italy, Scotland, and England.

He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Mary (Babecki) Bailey, his son, Richard Bailey, Jr., and three siblings, Gertrude, Jean, and Daniel.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Doris (Dockiewicz) Bailey of Monroe Twp., four children, Mark Bailey and his wife Pamela of Spotswood, David Bailey and his wife Charlene of Bethel, CT, Paul Bailey and his wife Katherine of Cream Ridge, and Brenda Carol and her husband John of Browns Mills, one daughter-in-law, Alisa Bailey of Hamilton, twelve grandchildren, Christopher, Bridget, Timothy, Rachael, Allison, Lea, Heather, Daniel, Kelly, Megan, Mary Kate, and Kyle, and many other extended family members.

Visitation will be from 9:00am to 11:00am on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555.  A catholic blessing will begin at the conclusion of the gathering hours at 11:00am at the funeral home.  Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick Twp.
