Obituary of Leonore Johanesson

Leonore Johanesson, 86, passed away on Thursday April 6, 2023 at her residence, with her loving family by her side.  Leonore was born and raised in Staten Island, NY.  She resided there for her entire life, before moving to Monroe Township, NJ in 2003.  Leonore was employed by the NYC Board of Education, where she worked as a payroll secretary for twenty six years, retiring in 1996.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 88, Staten Island, and an active parishioner of her churches, Eltingville Lutheran Church and Christ Memorial Lutheran Church.  Leonore enjoyed walking and gardening.  Leonore’s top priority was her family and she loved and cherished the time she got to spend with them. 

Leonore is preceded in death by her husband Ray C. Johanesson, her brothers, Axel Jerry Ericksen and Leonard Joseph Ericksen and her sister Nancy Ellen Ericksen.   

 Leonore is survived by her two daughters, Susan K. Johanesson Natale and her husband Anthony, Donna Lee Johanesson Perroth and her husband Gary, her three sons, Carl Johanesson , Brian Johanesson and his wife Karen, Gregg Johanesson and his wife Donna Marie, her ten grandchildren, Matthew Natale, Juliana Natale, Caitlyn Perroth, Krista Johanesson (Brian Okaly), Rachel Johanesson (Mateusz Pulwin), Michelle French, Melissa French- Zawada (Joseph Zawada), Thomas Johanesson (Jared Wolf), Courtney Johanesson, Kyle Johanesson, five great grandchildren, David (Kayla Ortiz), Daniel, Nicholas, Joey, Jacob, two great-great grandchildren, Sofia and Olivia, her brother, Chris Ericksen and her two sisters, Alyce (Ericksen) Taylor, Sally (Ericksen) Kern.  Also surviving are many extended family members and friends. 

Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday April 11, 2023 and 9:00-9:45 am on Wednesday April 12, 2023 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. – 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ  08831.  Funeral services will begin at 9:45 am on Wednesday from the funeral home.  Funeral Services will be 10:30 am at Christ Memorial Lutheran Church, 114 Old Stage Road, East Brunswick.  Cremation is private.  Interment of cremated remains will be in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ, on Friday April 14, 2023 at 10:00 am.
