I met Jim in the late 90’s, when we both worked for a cable tv company. He helped me through some difficult times, for which I am very grateful. He introduced me to some great guys through some poker games, something he did enjoy a lot, along with his hobbies. Some of those poker friends still play on occasion, bringing back good memories. We became good friends, except when politics came up. We avoided those conversations mostly. Jim was a great guy, always positive. He will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace, my friend.

I first met Jim at Horseshoe park about maybe 6 years ago. I always walked my dogs there, and he would be walking around with his binoculars watching for birds. He loved birds, and and the whole park for it scenery. We went on walks at times and he pointed out the BLUE HOUSE ON THE HORIZON. He told me the reason he bought that house was for the view! And he was right!!
The view is spectacular!! He even had a birdwatching setup in the window that was overlooking the whole park. The last time I saw Jim, it was mid November, he was out on his new e bike and he stopped and we talked for a long time. He was so happy getting used to his new bike!! A couple weeks later it started getting so cold out and I knew that’s why I have not seen him, he did not like the cold. I just found out from a friend of mine on my walk, right after THE NEW YEAR, and was told that Jim passed away! I was just stunned! And saddened to hear this. Every time now when I see his home, I always think of the VIEW, THAT HE LOVED SO MUCH!! My condolences go out to his entire family. Everyone knew Jim! The guy with the binoculars!

Jimmy and I began our friendship many years ago at St Raymond Elementary School in the Bronx. He was a couple of years younger than me, so we didn’t have classes together, but our paths crossed many times during those years. Later, when Jimmy was in high school and college, he worked at the German delicatessen in Parkchester, and I worked at the Finest Food grocery store across from the deli. On breaks, I would run across the street and get some German potato salad, and Jimmy was often at the counter. Jimmy was a savant when it came to numbers. He could add up a complicated order in his head and never touch the register. Did I mention he went to the prestigious Bronx School of Science in New York, so no surprise there. He was brilliant.
During college or shortly afterward, Jimmy took a trip to Europe with a buddy from college. They ran out of money and had to siphon or "borrow" gas from other vehicles to keep their rental car fueled up. Jimmy said he could smell gas on his breath for weeks. Yes, Jimmy had a bit of the devil in him. In Spain while at a night club, they had to hide in a back room to avoid a sweep by the Federales who were looking for American "hippies" to send back to the states. He said it was terrifying.
By the time Jimmy got back to the states, I had already left for Colorado. It didn’t take long, and soon he was following my tracks to Ft Collins, Colorado, where we ended up roommates and working at the Poudre Canyon Dairy loading trucks. Friendships formed in those days have lasted decades. Jimmy went on to work for UPS and built himself a beautiful home up at Horsetooth Reservoir. After a stint in California, Jimmy moved back to Denver and remained there to the end.
My children, Molly and Kit, have always known Jim as Uncle Jimmy. He was a constant part of their lives growing up. Over the years, Jimmy and I have floated rivers, hiked mountain trails, and driven the back roads in the quest for a rare or new bird. We stayed at his home in Denver whenever we were in town and were treated to his chicken and baked potato dinners.
Jimmy never suffered self-pity in himself nor in others; he was the most positive person I ever knew. If there is a heaven, I'm sure he's seated at a card table with St Peter and the usual suspects and stealing them blind. He has left a hole in all our lives and will be greatly missed.
Happy trails compadre, till we meet again

Jim was the best neighbor & truly a great friend to our family. Any time we were outside playing, he would happily come out with a big smile on his face & a story to tell. Our little son Brant just loved Jim. They would play "ball" together and Jim would "babysit Brant" while I took the groceries from the car to the house. We always joked that he was such a good sitter ;) Jim also helped us with "puppy duty" and we could always count on Jim to give them the love they needed while we were away. He enjoyed helping people and could strike up a conversation about anything, with anyone. We'd always see him out in the front yard or up the street chatting with someone. Every conversation with Jim was interesting, meaningful & enjoyable. Every time I see a bird I'll think of Jim & his love for nature. Jim will be greatly missed in our neighborhood but will always hold a very place in our hearts. These pictures were taken on 11/5/22.

Jim was apart of the Fuller family . He often came over on Thanksgiving or to watch sports and just for weekend get togethers. Jim was the first person to befriend my dad in his neighborhood and they became great friends. He always was interested in how and what we have been doing and it always made you feel special. I genuinely will miss him , he was a wonderful man and friend to us all. He will forever have a place at our table . Love Brooke Fuller

Of all my friends, Jim was the one that always kept in contact with me. His generosity and his smile will always be remembered. So many get togethers were spent searching for birds, working on our BMW's or shooting the breeze about whatever subject popped up. He was a voracious reader, seemed I always learned some obscure story that remains as a memory of him.
Jim's can do attitude about dealing with the amputation of his lower left leg so impressed me. Not long after his surgery, he drove up to my place in Ft. Collins and helped me replace a fuel pump. We were working on a gravel floor surface and the fuel pump was in a difficult position above the rear axle. Those conditions didn't impede Jim from diving in and helping me, success.
Jim was determined his prosthesis would not slow him down. His recent purchase of an ebike brought about new challenges in learning how to safely operate it and stay upright, mission accomplished.
Jim will always be remembered by me as an inspiration to accomplishment. A dear friend, a gentle soul and helping hand. Peace be with you my friend.

Q: What 3 words best describe James and why?
A: “That’s my story. “
An often used ending that Jim would finish a discussion with.
