Obituary of John A. Giampolo
John A. Giampolo, of Princeton Junction passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 29th after a short illness. He was 84.
A loving husband, father, and friend known for his lively and generous spirit, he will be sorely missed by his family and community.
John was born in Newark to the late John and Rose (Carlucci) Giampolo. He was raised in Livingston as the oldest of eight children. He graduated St. Benedict’s Preparatory School in Newark and attended the New Jersey Institute of Technology. After residing in South Brunswick Twp. for 25 years, he moved to Princeton Junction where he has lived since 2017. He also enjoyed spending time at his second home in Hilton Head, SC.
Over the course of his career he served as Senior Vice President of the New Jersey Hospital Association Group Purchasing Program. In 1988 he founded both Healthcare Group Purchasing (HGP) and Independent Pharmacy Alliance (IPA).
He was predeceased by his son Jack G. Giampolo and three siblings, Rosemarie, Arthur, and Charles.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Bernadette Norz of Princeton Junction, three children, John Giampolo and his wife Lori of Doylestown, PA, Thomas Giampolo and his wife Christin of Warrington, PA, and Rebecca Giampolo of Hoboken, his daughter-in-law, Nancy Giampolo of Vero Beach, FL, four siblings, Julie Giampolo, Patricia Giampolo, Carol Scheskowski and her husband Robert, and Nicholas Giampolo. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Sara Novic (Zack Stone), Alison Giampolo (Ryan Brinkmann), Jack Giampolo (Mary Atchley), Olivia Giampolo, and Thomas Giampolo, Jr., two great-grandchildren Kunarnon and Sullivan, and many other extended family members and friends, including the IPA & HGP work families.
Visitation will be from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Friday, December 2, 2022 and from 9:30am to 10:00am on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc., 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. Funeral services will begin at 10:00am on Saturday from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be 11:00am at St. David the King RC Church, 1 New Village Rd. Princeton Junction, NJ 08550 followed by Interment in St. Mary Cemetery, 1200 Cedar Ln. Trenton, NJ 08610.
