Obituary of Salvatore LaMarca

Salvatore J. LaMarca passed away on Tuesday November 8, 2022, at his home in Clearbrook Monroe Twp. He was 90 years old.  Salvatore was born and raised in the Sunnyside section of Staten Island. He later lived in Middletown, NJ, Lions Head Woods in Lakewood, and the Gardens at Pleasant Plains in Toms River before moving to Clearbrook Monroe Township. Sal proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He served as a military police officer in the 622nd Military Police Company in Korea. After his service time he was hired as a pipefitter by the US Navy and worked on the plumbing on the USS Saratoga. He then joined the New York City Housing Authority as a plumber’s helper and held the Master’s Plumber License for NYCHA. In 1986 he transferred to the New York City Board of Education as the Deputy Director of Maintenance Office of Plant Operations and retired in 1990. He was very active in the Plumber Local Union # 371 and was Director of their trade school for many years in Staten Island. He was a former parishioner of Saint Teresa of the Infant Jesus and ushered for many years at Saint Nicholas Chapel. He cared for the Saint Teresa Little League ballfield for many years. He was a parishioner of Nativity of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church in Monroe. He loved to golf and had three hole in one’s in his lifetime. He bowled for many years and loved making trips to Atlantic City. He was a member of the American Legion post 348 in Brick and was an American legion member for 66 years. 

Salvatore was pre-deceased by his parents Andrew and Mary (Musumeci) LaMarca and his three siblings, Domenica (Minnie) Ferdinando, Carmello LaMarca and Vita Rehberg.

Salvatore is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margaret (Fletcher) LaMarca of Clearbrook, Monroe Twp., three children, Mary LaMarca of Lebanon, NH, Joseph LaMarca and his wife Joan of Englishtown, and Teresa Garifalos of Spotswood, one sister, Marie Englert of Hamilton Twp., five grandchildren, Christina (Shanna), Stephen (Nicole) Nicholas, Michael, and Angela, four great grandchildren, Benjamin, Everly, Lincoln and Ruby Jo, and many other extended family members.

Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday November 14, 2022 and from 9:00am to 10:15am on Tuesday November 15, 2022 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831.A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday November 15, 2022, at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church - 185 Applegarth Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ  08831 followed by interment in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ.
