Obituary of Woody Lin

Woody Lin passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022 at his home in Monroe Twp.  He was 78 years old.  

Woody was born on May 26, 1944 in Tainan, Taiwan. He was raised and educated in his home country, earning a master’s degree in Horticulture from National Taiwan University. He served as an assistant professor in landscape architecture design at several colleges in Taiwan.  In 1979, he immigrated to the United States with his wife, and eldest daughter. The family settled in New Jersey, where his second daughter was born.  His life’s work was the florist and garden center that he owned and operated with his wife in Edison for forty years. 

A proud Taiwanese-American, and advocate for democracy in Taiwan, Woody served on the board of the Taiwanese-American Association of New York for several years. In his free time, he enjoyed watching the New York Mets, and keeping up to date on the news of his homeland, Taiwan. 

Woody is survived by his wife of 46 years, Shin Shin (Cynthia) Lin, two daughters, Gigi Lin Ksiazak and her husband Tony of Bridgewater, and Cheryl Lin and her husband Jeremy Jacobsen of Jersey City, his mother-in-law, Yeh Wu of Taipei, Taiwan, one sister, Yu Lin of Taiwan, four grandchildren, Alexander, Kaitlyn, Patrick, and Corey, and many other extended family members.

Visitation will be from 9:00am to 10:30am on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555.  A funeral service will begin at 11:00am at the Chapel at Holy Cross Burial Park Crematory, 840 Cranbury Rd., South Brunswick Twp., NJ 08810.  Cremation will be private.
