Mercy was born in Chennai India on September 17, 1943. Her loving parents raised her to be strong and independent, yet tender-hearted and kind. After marrying her husband, Rev. John Piriadasan Paul, in 1969, they emigrated to America where she worked in International Avionics, Horchow Collection, and Xerox Corporation until settling into raising her two children, Pam and Caleb, as a homemaker. In 1987, Mercy and John began full-time Christian missionary work in India and for the next 35 years, she faithfully served God alongside John, conducting mass crusades and establishing churches and orphanages in India, all while mesmerizing millions with her beautifully crisp, powerful singing voice. Mercy and John were married for 53 years.

Anyone who knew Mercy knew how compassionate, loving, and tender-hearted she was. She loved to laugh and had a razor-sharp wit. The juxtaposition of her kindness and feisty personality were unique only to her. Her incredible, radiant smile was absolutely infectious; once turned on, no one could not escape its light. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, auntie, and friend to so many around the world. Everyone who knew her, loved her.

Mercy is preceded in death by her mother, R. Dhanabhakiyam, her father, T. Subramaniam, brother Ghandimani, and two sisters Bharathimani and Sathyamani.

Mercy is survived by her husband John Piriadasan Paul, daughter Pam Paul and son Caleb Paul.
