Obituary of Martin J. Wetzel

Martin J. Wetzel, 77, of Monroe Twp. passed away on Tuesday July 5, 2022 at St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick.  Marty (Bummy) was born in New Brunswick and raised in Monroe Twp. where he lived for his entire life.  He was employed as a bricklayer for over 45 years with the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftspeople until his retirement in 2006.  Marty was a founding member of the Jamesburg Elks and was awarded Elk of the year in 2012.  He enjoyed golfing and was passionate about food. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Georgine (Chmura) Wetzel of Monroe Twp., one son, David Wetzel of Edison, one daughter, Amy Attanasio and her husband Peter of Annandale, one sister, Katherine Sikorski and her husband Thomas of Middletown and three granddaughters: Lydia, Caroline and Violet Attanasio.      

Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 pm on Friday July 8, 2022 and 8:30-9:15 am on Saturday July 9, 2022 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. - 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ  08831.  Funeral services will begin at 9:15 am on Saturday from the funeral home.  A funeral liturgy will be 10:00 am at Holy Trinity RC Church - 100 Main St., Helmetta, NJ  08828 followed by interment in Holy Trinity Cemetery - Monroe Twp.
