Obituary of Donald James Zimmerman

Donald James Zimmerman, 87, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at his home in The Ponds, Monroe Twp.  Donald was born in New Brunswick and has resided in The Ponds, Monroe Twp. since 2005.  He was a graduate of Saint Peter's High School class of 1952 and he proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.  Donald was a member of the UA Local 9 Union and worked as a pipefitter.  He was an active parishioner of Nativity of Our Lord RC Church and was a past communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Virgin Church in New Brunswick.  Donald was a member of the Italian American Club and the Billiard Club in The Ponds.  He enjoyed bike riding, making wooden crafts in his garage, and spending time at his summer house in Point Pleasant Beach.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Anna (Knoll) Zimmerman, and his wife, Dorothy (Crenner) Zimmerman in 2015.

He is survived by six children, Douglas and his wife Lynne of North Brunswick, Diane Keleher and her husband John of Millstone Twp., William and his wife Karen of Myrtle Beach, SC, Donna Previte and her husband Al of Dover, DE, Barbara Kline and her husband Dave of Jackson, and Catherine Maltese and her husband Matt of Millstone Twp., one brother, Vincent Zimmerman and his wife Mary Louise of New Brunswick, 12 grandchildren, Louis and his wife Samantha, Ashley and her husband Robert, Scott, Michael, Sean and his wife Victoria, Brian, David, Kevin and his wife Kori, Andrew, Thomas, Donaven, and Isabella, and many other extended family members.

Visitation will be from 3pm to 7pm on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 and from 8:45am to 9:15am on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc., 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555.  Funeral services will begin at 9:15am on Wednesday from the funeral home.  A funeral liturgy will be 10:00am at Nativity of Our Lord Church, 185 Applegarth Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831.  Entombment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, New Brunswick.
