Obituary of Joseph P. Polito, Jr.

Joseph Patrick Polito, Junior, 70, of South Brunswick, NJ, passed away on March 13^th 2022 at his home. Joe was born in Jersey City, NJ and moved to Highland Park, NJ as a teenager. He was a legend on the basketball court at Highland Park High School and held several scoring records.  Joe went on to play basketball at Monmouth University where he had a basketball scholarship. Joe was a hard worker and built his landscaping business from the ground up, ultimately founding Crossroads Nursery in South Brunswick where he worked until his death.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Patrick Polito, Sr., mother, Theodora Giacomo Polito, his brother Ralph Polito, and his sister Karen Polito Friedman.

He is survived by his daughter, Lauren Jade Polito Smolinski and her husband Tom of Lincroft, NJ, his son, Joseph Patrick Polito, III and his wife Sheila of Princeton, NJ and his three grandchildren Tyler Stone, Camryn Grace, and Eleanor Theresa.

Visitation will be 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm on Wednesday March 16, 2022 and 9-9:45 am on Thursday March 17, 2022 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. – 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ  08831 – 732-521-0555 – www.demarcofuneralhome.com.  Funeral services will begin at 9:45 am on Thursday from the funeral home.  A funeral liturgy will be 10:30 am at St. Cecilia RC Church – 10 Kingston Ln., Monmouth Junction, NJ  08852 followed by entombment in Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum – South Brunswick.
