Obituary of Betty Kijak

Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Betty Ann Kijak, 81, of Monroe Township, gained her angel wings on February 5, 2022.
She was born on July 18, 1940 to James and May Hart in New Haven, Connecticut.

Betty, also known as Evelyn to many, was an avid lover of bears (both real and stuffed) and a collector of dolls. Katherine Ann, her real-life doll was her most prized possession and brought such joy to her life.

Betty spent most of her career working for the Monroe Township Board of Education as Secretary to the Business Administrator. There, she made life-long friendships and displayed an outstanding work ethic and dedication that was missed following her retirement.

After retiring in 2006, Betty could most likely be found volunteering at church where she felt closest to God. She was passionate about her faith and was a loyal member of the Seventh Day Adventists Church in Hightstown. Other past times included the NJ shore, shopping at her favorite store (Nordstrom), making healthy salads, or dining with her lady friends at Garvey’s. She looked forward to her visits from her longtime friends, the Kanes.

Betty is now at peace and joins her son, Edward, and husband, William (Bill) Kijak in heaven. She is survived by her daughter Veronica McDaniel, whom she adoringly called Sissy, her husband Charles Walsingham, her grandchildren (whom she proudly doted over and spoiled every chance she got) Ashley Kijak, Aaron Kijak, Joey Kijak, Megan McDaniel (Nicholas Isom), Kelly Taylor (Angela), great-grand-children Finley Joseph Kijak and August Michon, and her many friends and extended family members.

Visitation will be from 9am to 11am on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp. NJ 08831. A funeral service will begin at the conclusion of the visiting hours at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Clover Leaf Memorial Park Cemetery in Woodbridge, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to support polar bears via the World Wildlife Fund at https://www.worldwildlife.org/.

“God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
—Revelation 21: 4
