Obituary of Michael Scimeme

Michael Scimeme, 68, died on Monday December 23, 2021, at his home with his loving family by his side. Michael was born in Brooklyn, NY, and resided in Staten Island for most of his life before moving to Monroe Township, NJ fourteen years ago.  He received a Bachelor of Engineering Degree from New York University; and he was employed by Toyota of Morristown for twenty years as well as several other car dealerships afterwards.  Michael was most recently employed by American Airlines and was the Supervisor of Ground Service Equipment. He especially appreciated the support of this team during this last difficult year.

Michael was an avid golfer, achieving 2 hole-in-one’s. He organized a bi-yearly tournament, the ‘Scimeme open’, with his dear friends to golf and enjoy the Poconos.  He was also a passionate Dallas Cowboys fan, having attended many Thanksgiving games in Texas and Super Bowls around the country. The other thing that brought him joy was Rock music. He often went to Iron Maiden concerts with his youngest daughter Lia.

Michael is preceded in death by his father, Angelo Michael Scimeme. 

Michael is survived by his mother, Margaret Scimeme, his loving wife, Cathy Zazzera, his first wife Phyllis Scimeme, his four daughters, Doriann SanPedro and her husband Jose, Erica Swan and her husband Dave, Christine Zazzera and her husband Nick Hirschstein, and Lia Zazzera. He is also survived by two brothers, Angelo Scimeme and his wife Linda, Joseph Scimeme and his wife Ramona, and four grandchildren, Michael and Christian San Pedro and Ella and Addison Swan.  Michael is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.     

Visitation will be 4-8pm on Monday December 27, 2021, and 8:15-9:15 am on Tuesday December 28, 2021, at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. - 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ  08831 - 732-521-0555.  Funeral services will begin at 9:15 am on Tuesday from the funeral home.  A funeral liturgy will be 10 am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church - 185 Applegarth Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ  08831 followed by interment in Resurrection Cemetery 361 Sharrott Ave, Staten Island, NY 10309.
