Obituary of James G. Clifford

James G. Clifford, 80, passed away at his residence in Monroe Twp. on Saturday December 18, 2021.  Jimmy was born and raised in the Bronx, lived in Saddle Brook for over 40 years before settling in Monroe Twp. 9 years ago.  He proudly served his country in the Military Police for the US Army.  He was a NYC Police officer and then served as a US Postal Worker until his retirement.  Jimmy enjoyed golfing and chess, watching sports and he was an avid reader.  Jimmy loved traveling, especially to Ireland and Scotland.  Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.  

He was preceded in death by his brother in law, Marty Flynn, without whom Jimmy and Elizabeth would have never met.  

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Elizabeth Clifford of Monroe Twp., three daughters: Jennifer Clifford Critelli and her husband Chip of Lawrenceville, Maureen Clifford of Bloomfield and Patricia Berry and her husband Brian of Saddle Brook and his sister, Mary Bowen and her husband Roger of Willington, CT.  He was loving Papa to his six grandchildren: Jessica Michael and her husband Eric, Kerry Critelli, Brennan Critelli, Mara Kudla, Megan Berry and Logan Kudla and his two great grandchildren: Kayson and Colton.  Also surviving are his brother in law, Charlie Bryceland and his wife Cathy of Hartsdale, NY, his sister in law, Agnes Flynn of CT and many nieces, nephews and close cousins. 

Visitation will be 3-7 pm on Tuesday December 21, 2021 and 8:30-9:15 am on Wednesday December 22, 2021 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. - 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ  08831 - 732-521-0555.  Funeral services will begin at 9:15 am on Wednesday from the funeral home.  A funeral liturgy will be 10 am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church - 185 Applegarth Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ  08831 followed by interment in Maryrest Cemetery - 770 Darlington Ave, Mahwah, NJ  07430.
