Obituary of Lizette Cairns

Please share a memory of Lizette to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lizette Cairns passed away peacefully at home on November 30th, 2021.

Lizette was born in Paisley Scotland to Hugh and Nellie McCluskey. Lizette was the youngest of eight siblings and lived the first twenty years of her life in Scotland and England. Lizette emigrated to America in 1945 and shortly after met Robert (Bob) Cairns who would become her loving husband of 64 years. Together Bob and Lizette had three children Robert, Richard, and Michele, they raised their family in Fair Lawn for 30 years.

Lizette worked many years at Burns and Roe Engineering firm in Oradell NJ as an Administrator Assistant. After retirement they moved to Monroe NJ to be closer to their daughter and help with all their grandchildren.

Lizette loved ballroom dancing with her husband Bob, singing, walking, shopping, baking, and traveling.  Lizette's biggest accomplishment was being a grandmother and baking chocolate chip cookies for her Wains and all their friends! Lizette recently had the privilege of becoming a Great Grandma to Ellie who brought love when it was needed most.

Lizette is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Bain Cairns (2021).

Lizette is survived by her dear children Robert Cairns of Warwick, Richard Cairns of NJ, Michele, and her husband Pete Dente of Marlboro.

She also leaves behind her dearest grandchildren, Matthew and Emily Rotella, Stephanie and Jordan Cairns, MacKenzie Cairns, Jake Dente, Maggie Cairns, Delena Cairns, Frankie Dente, & Eleanora Rotella.

Lizette always carried on her Scottish traditions and passed them onto her children and grandchildren.

“In one of the stars she will always be living, in one of the stars she will always be laughing. Will always be missed but never forgotten.”

Visitation will be on Saturday December 4, 2021, from 1:00PM - 2:45PM followed by a Catholic Blessing at 2:45PM at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home
