Obituary of Emmy A. Sullivan
Emmy (Skupien) Sullivan, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 in Plainsboro, New Jersey. Emmy was born and raised in Emsdetten, Germany where she lived until moving to England in 1949. She emigrated to the United States in 1958, residing in New Jersey thereafter. Emmy loved knitting and crocheting, searching the beach for sand dollars and sea glass, enjoying the beauty of nature, and only the best, Old Smuggler Scotch. Anyone that knew her will remember sweet sincerity, contagious cheer, and soul-lifting songs.
Emmy was predeceased by her husband, William Sullivan, and son-in-law, George Stampoulos.
She is survived by sister Elisabeth and brother-in-law Hermann Hünting of Emsdetten, Germany, daughters Linda Stampoulos of Monroe Township, Christine Kimmel of Point Pleasant, and Suzanne Fleming of Keyport, grandchildren Alison Cunningham of Portland, Elisabeth Fleming of Portland, Alissa Stampoulos of Jamesburg, Max Fleming of Bayonne, and Erika Stampoulos of Belvidere, and great grandchildren Ryan Chabra of Jamesburg and Sullivan Wenger of Portland. Also surviving are many extended family members and friends all over the world.
A memorial gathering will be 11am-1pm on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. - 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 - 732-521-0555. Interment of cremated remains will follow at 2pm in the Monmouth Memorial Park Cemetery - 4201 NJ-33, Tinton Falls, NJ 07753.
