Obituary of William J. Pauwels

William “Bill” Joseph Pauwels, 68, of Millstone Township, NJ died peacefully at home on September 2, 2021 following a brave battle with esophageal cancer. 

Bill was born April 14, 1953 in Passaic, NJ. He spent his childhood in Rutherford, NJ and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. The Pauwels family spent their summers with family and friends at their beloved bungalow as part of the Camp Osborn community in Normandy Beach, NJ. Bill loved to go out on the boat, fish, and crab with his friends at the beach.

The NY Mets, scuba diving, and his pets were Bill’s passions. Bill married his wife Brenda in 1987. They built their home and lived a peaceful life enjoying nature in Millstone Twp for the past 21 years. They loved yearly trips to the Caribbean, where they shared their common interest in diving. More than anything, Bill loved to be at home with family and his dogs by his side.  

As an IT professional most of his career, Bill was a steadfast and dedicated worker. He retired in May 2020 from his position as IT Coordinator for Montgomery Township. 

Predeceased by his parents Albert and Celestine (Kucinski) Pauwels, Bill is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Brenda (Howell) Pauwels, his daughter Heather (Pauwels) Vinick and Katie (Pauwels) Tamborini and her husband Christopher, his sister Celeste (Pauwels) Stoff and her husband James. Bill also has four grandchildren, Jared, Mia, Summer, and Lucas, who he loved with his whole heart.

A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at the M.
