Obituary of Peter J. McPartland

Peter James McPartland, 81, of Spotswood, passed on May 23, 2021. He was born October 28, 1939 in Queens, New York the son of Joseph and Helen (Murphy) McPartland.

Peter graduated Rice High School, Manhattan, NY.

Following graduation he worked as a printing press technician before joining the Army National Guard.  Peter received an Honorable Discharge in December 1966 and subsequently began a long 26 year career with the NY Bell Telephone system until his retirement at the age of 51.  Peter could not remain static though.  He spent the next 8 years as Treasurer/CFO for the Borough of Helmetta (NJ) and also served as Secretary for the Helmetta Board of Education.

Peter met his sweetheart, Pamela, in 1965 in Sunnyside, Queens. They married on April 29, 1967 and quickly began to grow their family. In 1972, they moved to Spotswood, NJ where they raised their four children.

Peter volunteered his time coaching baseball, basketball and soccer with his children. He organized D.A.R.E. programs and events for the local community.  A man of faith, Peter always enjoyed teaching religious education to the youth of New Jersey.  Among one of his greatest accomplishments was his 45 years in AA.  One of his greatest passions was playing his Martin guitar.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Joseph. Surviving in addition to his loving wife, Pamela, are his four children and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1-3pm and 7-9pm on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 and from 9:30am to 10:00am on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555.  Funeral services will begin at 10:00am on Wednesday from the funeral home.  A funeral liturgy will be 10:30am at St. James the Less RC Church, 36 Lincoln Ave. Jamesburg, NJ 08831 followed by Entombment in Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick Twp.
