Obituary of Florence Vogel

Florence Vogel passed away on May 3 at her home in Rossmoor, Monroe Township. She was 101 years old.

Flo was born on December 5, 1919 in Perth Amboy, one of Stephen & Mary Brodzinski’s five children. She graduated from St. Peter’s School of Nursing, New Brunswick in 1940. She met her husband, William Vogel, while he was her patient. 

A life-long resident of Middlesex County, Flo became a homemaker and raised five children who survive her. Married for 65 years, Flo & Bill enjoyed summers at the beach, swinging to Sinatra and rooting for the NY Mets and Giants. The family was able to celebrate her 100th birthday with a large gathering at the Colts Neck Inn before Covid-19 arrived.

Florence was predeceased by her husband Bill, her brothers Albert and Carl Brodzinski, her sisters Cecelia Troyano and Mae Karas, and granddaughter Jessica Vogel. She is survived by five children: James (Margie) Vogel; Eileen (Robert) Zuvich; William (Virginia) Vogel; Stephen (Karen) Vogel and Margaret (Michael) McFarland. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Her steady presence and quiet concern for us will be deeply missed.

She was a faithful communicant of her local parish, the Nativity of Our Lord Church.

Visitation will be 6-8pm on Thursday May 6, 2021 and 10-10:45am on Friday May 7, 2021 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. – 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ  08831.  Funeral services will begin at 10:45am on Friday from the funeral home.  A funeral liturgy will be 11:30am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church – 185 Applegarth Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ  08831 followed by committal and cremation at Holy Cross Burial Park Crematory Chapel – South Brunswick.
