John E. Hogan 'Rookie' passed away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 21, 2021.  He was 76 years old.  Mr. Hogan was born in Hells Kitchen, New York City.  He later lived in Jersey City, Sayreville, Manahawkin, and Monroe Twp.  He served his country proudly in the US Coast Guard and was stationed on the USS Agassiz during the Vietnam War.  He was a Pipe Fitter for General Motors for 30 years before his retirement in 2007.  After retiring John enjoyed volunteering at Kens Kitchen in Manahawkin and hanging with his buddies for coffee at the clubhouse.  He was always there if you needed him.  He was a hard-working family man that would do anything for someone in need.  He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing especially going out to the canyon for Tuna.  He was an avid New York Yankees fan and was a friend of Bill W's for 37 years.  John loved animals, especially his cats Precious and Buddy.

John’s biggest joy and passion in life was his family.   He loved spending time with his wife and children.  Some of his fondest memories were their family vacations, especially the days spent together camping, road trips to Florida, going on a cruise or traveling the country with his wife.  He will always be remembered as a loving, devoted and kind family man.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Donna (Flaherty) Hogan of Monroe Twp., three children, Debra Sikorski and her husband John of Millstone Twp., Sean Hogan of Marlboro, Timothy Hogan and his wife Erica of Monroe Twp., four brothers, Robert, Patrick, Michael, and Brian, two sisters, Kathleen, and Donna, 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
