Obituary of Liam Starlin Morel

Liam Starlin Morel, age 3, died on Thursday February 18, 2021 at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ after a long and hard-fought battle with GM1 Type 1.  Liam was born in Freehold NJ on February 11, 2018 to his parents Farlin Morel and Zuleyma Barbosa of Hightstown, NJ. Liam loved dinosaurs, he was incredibly strong and a fighter to the end. During his short life here on earth, he taught so many people so many important things. Most importantly, Liam, taught his loving parents how to trust in God and he gave them the strength to endure through the most difficult of times.

Liam is survived by his parents, Farlin Morel and Zuleyman Barbosa, his paternal grandparents, Genaro Morel and Leocadia Martinez, maternal grandparents, Sergio Barbosa and Teresa Maus, family members, Britany Uscanga and her parents Victor and Carolina, Estefani Lopez, Luis Barbosa (Eloisa), Wander Morel (Karen Linares), Lucy Morel, Flor Tabalno, dearest friends, Matthew Sawyer, Gloria Chirre and Pastor Marvin Morales and his wife Fatima Morales.  Also surviving are many extended family members and friends.  

Liam will be remembered by the many people he touched throughout his life. He put a smile on everyone’s face. His strength, endurance, and resilience has and will continue to encourage many people.  The family would like to thank the many amazing and remarkable doctors, nurses and support staff who supported them during Liam’s journey. A big special thanks to the nurses, Sharon, Victoria, Angela, Shawn, Alyssa, Sonny and Maria.  

Visitation will be from 12:00pm to 3:00pm on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Road, Monroe Township, NJ. Funeral services will begin at 3pm at the conclusion of the visitation.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions placed on gatherings and activities, all current guidelines are to be observed during visitations, including the use of face coverings and social distancing.
