Obituary of Robert J. Battoglia, Jr.

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Robert “Bob” Joseph Battoglia Jr, a managing director for Standard Chartered, died unexpectedly on January 23, 2021 at the age of 46 in New Brunswick, NJ.

Bob is survived by his wife Jaymie (nee Brechman); children Kaley and Jacob; parents Robert and Phyllis Battoglia; brother Thomas Battoglia, his wife Carmella, and children Sofia, Joseph and Saige; brother Michael Battoglia, his wife Linnea and children Matthew and Zachary; brother-in-law Jeffrey Brechman and his children Morgan, Allison and Harper; brother-in-law Jared Brechman, his wife Jean, and his children Harrison, Henry, and Elle; mother-in-law Roby Longstreet and her husband James; grandmother-in-law Norma Pesin.

Bob was born in Belleville, NJ on April 23, 1974. He grew up in Nutley where he graduated high school near the top of his class in 1992. He graduated from Rutgers University with honors and a degree in Accounting in 1996. Bob met Jaymie Brechman, the love of his life, early in his freshman year and they quickly became inseparable and were married in 1998. Bob then received his MBA from New York University Stern School of Business in 2002 and switched careers from accounting to risk security.
Bob and Jaymie eventually settled into Monroe, NJ where they began to raise their family in 2003. Bob was a proud and dedicated father who truly enjoyed attending innumerable gymnastic competitions as well as soccer, lacrosse and field hockey games all over the eastern seaboard. In addition, he served as a board member for Embrace Kids Foundation whose goal is to lighten the burden, maintain normalcy and improve the quality of life for families whose children are facing cancer, sickle cell and other serious health challenges.

Bob was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, and co-worker that had an unparalleled work ethic and drive. Bob’s smile was infectious as was his laugh, which was so distinct and authentic that it could easily be identified even in a crowded room. The laugh and smile were always accompanied by a sharp wit with bounds that could only be matched by his immense generosity. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A private memorial service will be held amongst family.
