Obituary of Jody L. Meagher

Jody Lynn Meagher passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. She had just turned 58 years old.

Jody was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on December 30, 1962. The daughter of Richard and Carol Gallagher, she was later raised in Edison, New Jersey. At the age of 16, Jody met her future husband and soul mate James, son of John and Ann Meagher, while at Edison High School. In 1992, Jody, James and their three children moved to Monroe Township. For many years Jody worked at Holmdel Pulmonary as an office assistant, a position where she provided love and comfort for her many patients.

Jody was a loving wife and best friend to her husband James. They were married for 36 years, were together for 41 years and had three children. Jody was also a devoted and proud new grandmother to her grandson. Family was her top priority and her love was evident in her visits, phone calls, cooking, crafts and gifts. A birthday or family event never passed without a call and present from Jody.

Jody loved to cook and was known for making the best appetizers. When she wasn’t spoiling her family and friends, she enjoyed making crafts, planning events, playing with her grandson, scrolling Pinterest and watching Hallmark movies. Jody also loved to travel, visiting Ireland, Key West and Alaska. Her favorite places to visit with James and her family were Lake Sebago in Maine, Cape May and Cape Cod where she loved viewing sunsets and collecting sea glass.

Jody is survived by her husband, James 56, her three loving and proud children and partners, James and John 34, Lei-Ann and Alex 31, Kaleigh and Daniel 29 and grandson, Alex James 1. She is also survived by her mother Carol, sister/partner-in-crime Vicky Brim, niece Angelina Brim and a large extended family. She was predeceased by her father Richard and brother-in-law Ronald.

Jody passed away peacefully with her husband by her side due to complications from COVID-19. Despite taking prescribed precautions, Jody became sick and was later hospitalized. Even from her hospital bed, Jody was busy buying presents and managing her household.

Jody left behind a loving and strong family. She will be missed dearly by everyone. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to Smile Train - www.smiletrain.org - an organization close to her heart. The family also encourages everyone to remain vigilant against the spread of COVID-19 by wearing masks in public and maintaining social distancing practices.
