Obituary of Elaine J. Kurczeski

Please share a memory of Elaine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Elaine J. (Braz) Kurczeski passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, November 30, 2020 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.  She was 65 years old.  Elaine was born in Newark and was raised in Florham Park.  She later lived in Pine Grove, PA for 10 years and has resided in Monroe Twp. since 1985.

She was pre-deceased by her parents, Tulio Braz and Maria (Suppa) Braz, and her brother, Tulio S. Braz.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Thomas M. Kurczeski of Monroe Twp., two children, Jessica A. Kurczeski and her fiancee, Rick Bodine, II of Bensalem, PA, and Adam T. Kurczeski of Monroe Twp., three grandchildren, Seth, Avaleigh, and Rickie Bodine, III, her sister-in-law, Joanne Braz, and many other extended family members and dear friends.

Elaine was a devoted wife and mother to her two children and three grandchildren.  In her youth she worked as a waitress and after being married in 1973 she worked side by side with her husband in the stained glass business that they established after moving to Pennsylvania in 1975.  Her attention to detail helped the business to succeed and the artistic pieces they produced are treasured by all who received them as gifts or thru purchase.  Her hobbies included needlepoint art and quilting with her girlfriends in PA.  After moving back to New Jersey in 1985, she continued on with making quilts with her girlfriends here. She also enjoyed writing and sending cards and letters to all of our friends and family and never missed sending them to all for Birthdays and special occasions.

She was a wonderful homemaker and an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed making holiday cookies that were absolutely delicious and enjoyed by all family and friends that she prepared and gave trays to during the holiday season.  She enjoyed the water and being an Aquarian, loved the ocean and also loved dancing.  She could really cut the rug with the moves she had. She will be sadly missed by all whose hearts she touched.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice.

Due to the current pandemic that we all have to be concerned with for all of our safety and health there will not be a repast at this time.  We will be planning a celebration of life for Elaine when safety permits possibly in the springtime when the weather is better and the earth is beginning to show the signs of the new season and we can safely gather outside.

Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 6:00pm on Sunday, December 6, 2020 and from 9:00am to 10:00am on Monday December 7, 2020 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831.  A funeral service will begin at 10:00am on Monday morning at the funeral home.  Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Ave. East Hanover, NJ 07936.

As a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions placed on public life and activities, all current guidelines will be observed on the day of the wake and funeral including the use of face coverings and social distancing.
