Obituary of Romaldo L. Porto

Romaldo L. Porto, 91, of Monroe Twp., passed away on Monday November 23, 2020 at St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick.  Romaldo was born and raised in New York City and moved to New Jersey over 50 years ago.  He lived in Waldwick and Cranbury before settling in Monroe Twp. 24 years ago.  After graduating from Stuyvesant High School in 1947, he began his career as a banker at Citibank where he worked for 29 years before moving to Chase Manhattan Bank where he worked until his retirement in 1992.  Romaldo was an active parishioner of Nativity of Our Lord RC Church in Monroe Twp. where he was an usher, a member of the Holy Name Society and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus.  

Romaldo was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Porto (2010), his son in law, Jonathan Coun (2020), and three brothers, Enrico Porto, Silvio Porto and Michael Porto.  

He is survived by four children: Barbara Schmid and her husband William of Pittsburgh, PA, Ron Porto and his wife Joan of Waldwick, Patricia Morabito and her husband Pat of Plainsboro and Christine Coun of Midland Park, six grandchildren: Brendan, William, Megan, Michael, Alex and Lauren and one brother, Albino Porto of Waldwick.  Also surviving are many extended family members.  

A memorial mass will be 11 am on  Friday December 4, 2020 at St. Gabriel the Archangel RC Church - 88 East Saddle River Rd., Saddle River, NJ  07458.  Full arrangements have been entrusted to the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. - 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ  08831
