Obituary of Anthony Dioguardi

Please share a memory of Anthony to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Anthony Dioguardi passed peacefully in his home on November 1, 2020 with his wife Carmela and his daughter Lorraine by his side.

Brook married Carmela in 1948 and lived in Brooklyn until 1987, after when they moved to Concordia in Monroe Township. He always referred to Carmela as “his bride” and she was the love of his life.  They were married for 72 years and completely devoted to each other.  She was an Interior Designer and between the two of them always created a beautiful home.

Anthony served in WWII where he got his nickname “Brook” for his strong Brooklyn accent.

He was stationed in the Pacific as a radio operator and often recalled many of the tough stories.

As a young man he worked with his uncles as a plumber, electrician and carpenter before becoming a very successful Construction Supervisor for Bederson Feldman.  He was responsible for numerous NYC multi-million dollar projects from Citi Banks to Dunkin' Donuts.  He loved his work but really loved doughnuts!

After retirement he used his “golden hands” for wood working projects.  He built many special things including stools and inlaid boxes.  He generously gave these as gifts to his family and friends.  He was always available to all with his time and expertise.

Anthony was totally devoted to his huge Italian family and many friends.  He adored his one and only granddaughter Colette for whom he would go to the end of the earth.  The mention of her name always brought a smile.

Underneath Brook’s gruff exterior was a tender caring heart.  He was beloved by all his friends and family.  He was truly a memorable character whose memory will be cherished forever.

Anthony now joins his son Vito and will forever be in peace.

Anthony is survived by his beloved wife Carmela, daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine and Donald Gabler, granddaughter Colette Gabler and sister Marie Amato. He is preceded in death by his son Vito Dioguardi and his sister Josephine Nastro.
