Obituary of Bartholomew P. Sfraga
Bartholomew “Ben” Sfraga 85, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at his home in Monroe Township, New Jersey. He was born in Brooklyn, New York to his parents Nicholas and Giovannina Sfraga and had four brothers Phillip, Joseph, Peter and Sal who are now deceased.
Ben deeply loved his family and is survived by his wife of 62 years Eleanor Sfraga, daughter Denise Sfraga and her husband Len Bellinger; son Richard Sfraga and his wife Lisa; as well as his grandchildren Andrea Silviotti and her husband Mark, Jake Sfraga and Michael and Matthew Mascari; and great grandchildren Christopher and Lia Mondella. He also leaves behind his many nieces and nephews whom he adored.
Ben was a proud veteran of the Army Reserve and a faithful parishioner of Nativity of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church in Monroe, New Jersey. He loved all kinds of sports - golf especially, and loyally followed all his favorite teams – the New York Yankees, New York Giants and New York Rangers. He loved to cook and was famous for his spicy homemade Italian sauce. He had a zest for life and although he loved everything that life had to offer, nothing could compare to his passion for visiting Atlantic City with his “winning” gambler partner/wife Eleanor and sharing times with the wonderful friends he made there.
Bartholomew Sfraga was buried in a private ceremony (due to Covid precautions) on September 8, 2020 and the family hopes to have a celebration mass sometime in the near future.
