Obituary of Dolores Wigodinski

Please share a memory of Dolores to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Dolores Wigodinski, 86, of Jamesburg passed away, May 16, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Dolores was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on December 24, 1933 to the late Leo and Susan (Nicholas) White.  She was raised in Plains, PA before moving to Highland Park in 1953 where she lived for one year, finally settling in Jamesburg in 1954.  Dolores raised her family as a homemaker, always welcoming a houseful of children and driving them everywhere, to Great Adventure, dance, gymnastics, movies, music lessons, sports, work and roller skating.  She loved vacationing in the Outer Banks and spending the summers at home with friends, swimming and entertaining.

Dolores was very active in her community, always the first to raise her hand to volunteer.  She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Jamesburg, serving as a Sunday school teacher, an elder, a deacon, chairwoman of Christian education and director of the food cupboard.  She was a scout leader and class mom when her children were in school and a member of the Jamesburg Seniors.  Dolores loved to cook and was known by many for her nut roll, homemade bread, cakes, pierogies and pies, especially lemon meringue.  Having a home cooked meal as a family was very important to her.

Dolores was a woman who was loved and cherished by all who knew her and was best known for welcoming anyone and everyone with a loving hug and a warm smile.  She was the glue that held things together and always the first person to help anyone in need, whether it was to make dinner for a family with an ill or passed relative or visiting a sick friend. She worked nonstop to make sure her family was comfortable and happy.

Dolores was predeceased by her daughter, Daria Petry, her grandson, Johnmichael Alexandersen and her sister, Dianne Thomas.

Dolores will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 67 years, Dennis Wigodinski of Jamesburg, four children: Denise McPherson (Brad) of Winslow, IN, Dennis Wigodinski (Bobby Bairan) of Beachwood, Debra Gogel (Chris) of LaGrange, GA and Darlene Alexandersen (Michael) of Bordentown, two sisters: Susan Kubasti of Pittston, PA and Marilyn Tokach of Sierra Vista, AZ, two brothers: Richard White (Linda) of Hudson, PA and James White (Marion) of Ferdinand, IN, 8 grandchildren: Bradley McPherson (Yasmin), Craig McPherson (Lillian), Derek Wigodinski (Kim), Jenny Merkley (Eddie), Whitley Kluesner, Kevin Brown (Brittney), Michael Petry and Landen Gogel, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.  Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, and for those who desire, donations can be made in memory of Dolores Wigodinski to the Presbyterian Church of Jamesburg – 175 Gatzmer Ave., Jamesburg, NJ  08831.

Out of respect and concern for public health and safety, funeral services are private and are being held at the convenience of the family.  A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
